Nikon D200 (Digital SLR)

Nikon D200 Digital SLR Camera is another powerful, feature-packed Digital Camera announced by Nikon in November 2005, almost after three and half years when D100 came in the photography market. Since three and half years is really a long time where a lot has changed in our life and in this photography world, it can be said that D200 has come with major changes. It is the build quality of this Camera which makes it look like a professional tool.
The Nikon D200 is of 147 x 113 x 74 mm in dimension and the weight (without battery) is only 830 grams. The body of the camera is largely made up of magnesium alloy with sealed seams. The operating temperature range is 0-40o C. The TFT LCD is of 2.5 inch with 230,000 pixel count. The LCD Monitor has also a removable protective cover. The Camera has 10.92 total mega pixels (MP) and the effective mega pixel is 10.2. The CCD sensor has an effective size of 23.6 x 15.8. The Focal length multiplier is approximately 1.5x. It has a built-in wireless flash controller.

The Nikon D200 has more than 40 custom settings which makes it more user-friendly. The interesting features of Nikon D200 are 10.2-MP DX-format CCD image sensor, 2.5 inch high resolution LCD Monitor, 5 frames per second high-speed continuous shooting, built-in wireless flash, shutter speed of 1/8000, flash sync of 1/250, 50ms shutter lag specification, an ISO range of 100-1600 in 1/3 step increments, bright Viewfinder, 11-area multi-CAM AF system with 7 area wide AF sensor, EN-EL3e rechargeable battery with fuel gauge function. USB 2.0, PC sync and NTSC/PAL video out, 10-pin remote socket, GPS Adapter Cord MC-35 (for connecting to an external GPS unit) are some of the connection ports.
The 10.2-MP CCD image sensor captures high-resolution images ideal for posters and creative cropping. The high resolution LCD Monitor facilitates ultra-wide, 170o viewing in all directions; magnification is up to 400% for the preview of images. The large, bright Viewfinder offers .94 x magnifications with 95% frame coverage both horizontally and vertically for detailed viewing control. 5fps high-speed continuous shooting enables to capture fast moving objects with high-resolution images at a rapid 5 frames per second. It continuously bursts of up to 22 NEF (RAW) or 37 JPEG (fine - large) excellent shots. The sensor and image quality, flexible controls, rugged finish with all the above features makes the Nikon D200, a smart, strong, faster and versatile camera.

The Nikon D200 combines an impressive list of pro-class features in a body that is much less expensive than the company's flagship D2X. Some of the problems in Nikon D200 are that there is no option of saving images in TIFF format, ISO noise when you use them at higher values or levels and Lack of color-space options. The built-in vertical grip makes it comfortable holding the camera during shooting. Anyway, it is indeed the best model and an excellent option regardless of whether you are an amateur photographer or a professional photographer.
